Join our community walk on 21 March – open to everyone
Do you wonder how the proposed Kingsway solar farm might change our local landscape? Whether you’re deeply involved or just curious to learn more, join us for a breath of fresh air and a bit of community spirit.
The Kingsway solar project isn’t just a few fields; it is a massive industrial proposal spanning 7 miles and covering over 3,079 acres of high-quality farmland. There will be a million panels, over 4m high, and infrastructure to go with it including fences, lights, CCTV and haul roads.
Kingsway also plans to erect 15km of pylons to link the solar farm to the planned substation at Burwell. These will cross the historic Devil’s Dyke, fundamentally changing the character of this area too.
This is a chance to see the landscape that’s threatened for yourself and find out how our community can work together to protect our area from industrial-scale development
The afternoon plan:
2pm – the walk: A 2.2-mile route to see this beautiful landscape firsthand. It’s the best way to visualise the scale of the proposed panels, fences and infrastructure. (It might be muddy, so bring your boots!)
2:30pm onwards – warm up: Not up for a walk? Meet us back at the Reading Rooms for refreshments and a chat.
3:30pm – the update: A short talk on the current proposals, what they mean for our high-quality farmland and local homes, and what we plan to do next.
Why come along?
Come and see for yourself the scale of what could be lost.
Everyone is welcome, no tickets required. Just turn up at the Reading Rooms on the day, ready to start walking at 2pm. We look forward to seeing you!
